Fan coil is an air conditioning unit. Its main components are coil and fin heat exchanger, fan, drain pan. If you pump chilled water into the heat exchanger, then the fan will send out cool air, If you pump hot water into the heat exchanger, the fan will send out warm air.
Most big buildings are suitable to install fan coil units, such as: Air ports, hospitals, office buildings, hotels, department stores, and schools.
There are ceiling concealed type fan coils, floor cabinet type fan coils, cassette type fan coils, and ductable type fan coils. The ceiling concealed type fan coil is installed above the ceiling, it is normally ducted to a supply air outlet these can range from 180mm deep to 270mm deep. The floor cabinet type fan coil is usually installed where there is no celing viod, these are often used to replace a primiary air type system, popular in the 60's. The cassette type fan coil is installed on the ceiling and looks similair to a refrigerant cassette.
A fan coil unit also requires cooling/heating water pipes and a condensate drain connection. It also uses valves fitted to the water pipes, these valves are controlled by a thermostat connected to a controller, this will maintain itelligent control over the space
